Trolltech Releases Qt and Qtopia Core 4.3

Adds Enhanced Support for Native Vista Development

Oslo, 30 May - 2007 - Trolltech today announced the release of Qt 4.3, the latest feature release of its popular framework for high performance, cross-platform application development. Qt includes a C++ class library and integrated development tools for cross-platform development and internationalization. Also released is Qtopia Core 4.3, the leading application framework for single-application devices powered by embedded Linux.

Qt and Qtopia Core 4.3 provide commercial and open source developers with a number of new features and significant performance improvements across the framework.   Major new additions found in the releases include:

• Enhanced support for native Windows Vista™ applications

• QtScript: An integrated ECMA standard scripting engine

• Added support for Secure Socket Layer (SSL) communications

• Faster, higher quality 3D graphics rendering with an improved OpenGL® engine

• A more flexible Main Window architecture

• Ability to both render and generate SVG vector graphics images with new SVG file generation

• Improvements to Qtopia Core, including a new font system and enhanced support for OpenGL ES

Enhanced Support for Native Vista Application Development

The addition of comprehensive support for Vista styles, controls and animations now enables Qt developers to create applications that look and feel at home on the next-generation Windows platform. With Qt 4.3, Qt-based applications are now fully compliant with Vista style guidelines, and take advantage of the latest Vista innovations.  In fact, Qt Linguist has earned Vista Certification with version 4.3, indicating that it meets Microsoft’s guidelines for Vista compatibility.

New ECMA Scripting Engine Integrated in Qt 4.3

Qt 4.3 adds QtScript, an all-new ECMA standard-compliant scripting engine.  QtScript integrates with Qt’s innovative Signals and Slots mechanism for easier inter-object communications, and provides powerful integration between C++ and scripting in Qt based applications.  QtScript is available to Qt commercial customers as part of the Qt 4.3 Desktop Edition, and to open source developers as part of the Qt Open Source Edition.  QtScript is based on a more current version of ECMAScript (JavaScript)– ECMA Standard 262.
